I am a parent of a grade 8 Sunningdale student and a former Sunningdale student (now in grade 10). Since my children entered school, I have been an active parent volunteer, first as a weekly classroom and library helper, and then for the last seven years serving on Sunningdale's School Council.
I left a corporate career to become a stay-at-home-mom, and have played a significant part in my children’s school experience by getting involved in what happens at Sunningdale. Volunteering at the school has given me the opportunity to build relationships with many teachers, administrative staff and parents.
In my years on School Council, first as the Fundraising Coordinator and more recently as the Communications Lead, I have built a website, www.sunningdalecouncil.ca, to better communicate Council initiatives to the Sunningdale community; organized numerous fundraising dances; and planned the annual fun fair, Foire Fantastique.
In 2023, I was a member of the HDSB Boundary Review Committee, representing Sunningdale, that was set up to determine the new school boundaries for our future two North Oakville Schools, as well as address other enrolment pressures throughout the affected study area.
In addition to my involvement as a parent volunteer, my 20 years of corporate work — including formerly being the Director of PR and Communications for CTV and CHUM Television, with extensive experience in event planning, marketing communications, and project management — have given me a set of unique abilities that I have applied towards School Council.
